Kempsey is the heart of a vast tourist area on the Macleay River on the Mid North Coast of NSW and half way between Sydney and Brisbane.
The town has a population of 18,000 people with the shire now sitting at 28,000 people. The recent addition of a new $110 million goal has created hundreds of jobs in the area and this is evident in the increased turnover for many of the local shops.

Many historical buildings are to be found within Kempsey , whilst there are numerous drive to some truly historical communities in the area such as Gladstone and Bellbrook , the latter also being in the foothills of some great mountain country and the end of a scenic though very difficult tourist drive that starts at Wollomombi that winds through some of the most beautiful mountain scenery found in Australia. This particular drive should be only undertaken in good weather as the road is very narrow, very rough and quite winding though well worth the trip. The road is strictly off limits for caravans and trailers due to the nature of the road.
